MCA’s assault case to be mentioned in September
The case of Nairobi’s Umoja Two Ward Rep Joseph Ndonji, who was charged with assaulting a pastor in a fit of rage, will be mentioned on September 30.
Ndonji was charged before Makadara Senior Principal Magistrate Stephen Jalang’o on June 17 for assault. He denied the charge.
The prosecution stated that Ndonji and others not before the court attacked Jared Aruwa by kicking and punching him, occasioning him grievous bodily harm.
His attack allegedly took place on May 30, 2019 at Kwa Miti along Manyanja Road in Tena Estate.
The prosecution said Aruwa was walking to a hardware shop along Manyanja Road when Ndonji called out his name from his car and asked him over where the MCA demanded to know why he was destroying electric poles that he had put up.
Aruwa maintains that he never vandalised the electric poles. He said Ndonji grabbed him by the shoulders and started to kick him, and forced him to stand while shaking him and forced him to admit that he was behind the destruction of the poles.
According to Police report by the 53 year-old pastor said that after the MCA hit him on the shoulder his driver joined in and held him by the neck as he tried to strangle him claiming that he wanted to beat up his boss.
The statement further states that it is at this point that another group of goons joined them and it is at this point while he was on the ground that he heard the MCA saying “Amepata adhabu ya kutosha mwache sasa”.
Among the goons one said: “Leteni kamba tumfunge tumpeleke Buruburu.”
The men stole his mobile phone after which they took him to Buruburu Police Station alleging that he was a criminal.
