Ochola: Rotation of coaches to blame for Gor Mahia poor form

The recent spate of bad results registered by Gor Mahia has been attributed to different coaches with varying ideas leading to player confusion

According to club secretary general Sam Ochola, players have had a hard time trying to adapt to different styles and mentality of coaches working with them on an interim basis.

“I want to believe what has happened lately to Gor Mahia has got to do with varying tactics by the three coaches we deployed to hold forte since we had no coach for a period of time.

We might have started late in the league and had little active pre-season but the fact that we had different faces on the bench in my view contributed to our predicament,” said Ochola.

“We had input from Patrick Odhiambo (former assistant coach) before we brought in Sammy Omollo (Pamzo) and then used Jared Oketch (Youth Coach) as well.

I think players got confused. It is not that they are a weak side, far from it. We just need stability going forward,” he said.

K’Ogalo are currently 16th in the premiership after losing two matches in three games played so far.

Gor who dropped to the lower CAF Confederations Cup after being blown away by Algerian giants CRB Belouizdad 8-1 on aggregate in the CAF Champions League Second Round Qualifiers, have manifested a huge problem at the defence which has seen them concede a total of 17 goals with new signing goalkeeper in goal.

All of these results came after Brazilian Roberto Oliviera Goncalves left the club without even once sitting on the touchline.

The returning secretary general who was  last year suspended by the club for allegedly sabotaging Gor Mahia by signing a broadcast deal with Football Kenya Federation minus the blessing  of the club has now suggested that with the coming of new Portuguese Coach Carlos Manuel Vaz Pinto, things will improve.

“We now have a coach who signed a two-year deal with us. We believe he is the right man to steady the ship and we know we will get better in the near future.

We are also discussing with Pamzo over him taking up the role of assistant coach. I hope we can secure his services because he has shown passion and commitment towards this project,” added Ochola.

Pamzo of Posta Rangers has reportedly tabled his demands to the club management and is waiting for an official response before he makes a formal decision.
