Return Kericho Green Stadium as our home turf instead of Afraha, pleads Zoo FC coach

Kenyan Premier League side Zoo Kericho FC head coach Herman Iswekha has appealed to Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to reverse its earlier decision to have Afraha Stadium, in Nakuru as the club’s home ground instead of their preferred Kericho Green Stadium.

Zoo which is among the teams that had a confrontation with the local federation over the endorsement of a multi-million broadcast deal with StarTimes Kenya, is yet to kick off their campaign this season, and will do so tomorrow for the first time during match day six of the FKF Premier League, against Bandari in Nakuru.

Iswekha said with limited resources, the Kericho -based club was comfortable having their home fixtures played at the Kericho Green stadium, which has been their home ground ever since they joined the top leagues.

Speaking to People Sport yesterday, the tactician said it will a big challenge for his side to travel for more than two hours to Nakuru to host visiting clubs since they do not have enough resources or money for transport and players’ requirements, saying the federation should reinstate the Kericho stadium as their home turf like it was before.

“It is going to be a challenge for us to have Afraha Stadium in Nakuru as our home ground because of the little resources we have.

So I appeal to FKF to rescind its earlier decision and let us host visiting clubs at the our home ground-the Kericho Green stadium as we used to do. In fact the facility has now been upgraded,” said Iswekha.

According to the tactician, the Kericho Green stadium has met all the requirements and standards to host clubs playing in the country’s premier league and wondered why FKF has acted that way.

“ We are calling on FKF to send a team to assess the stadium incase of anything and let us continue using it for premier league matches ,” he added.

Iswekha is optimistic that his side will pip Bandari in their opening match as he said his players were raring to go having trained well for the season opener, with a number of friendly matches with local sides to gain match fitness.
